Installer won't run on Windows 7?

by Sean Finkel · in General Discussion · 08/12/2009 (8:16 am) · 5 replies

I know it's not officially released yet, however the TGB demo installer won't run on Win7 (x64). It starts for a second, then exits.

Are the licensed/full versions of TGB and/or TGEA/T3D packed with the same Bitrock installer? I was about to pre-purchase T3D today, but not if it's going to have compatibility issues - I will find something that works, or wait for GG to get Torque Win7 ready. I am not going back to Vista or XP.

anyone else experienced this? Workaround?

The TGEA and Torque 3D demos and SDK installers are all built with the Nullsoft Installer which appears to be compatible with Windows 7.

Thank you for the reply, however I have the Torque 2D demo and according to the file properties, it was built with the BitRock installer. Either way, it doesn't work for me in Win7x64

Well, apparently it's hardware specific, as I just ran the installer on another Win7RC1 x64 machine and it ran fine. Meh!

FWIW, I had this problem and it turned out to be a corrupt download. 1.7.4 installed fine on Windows 7 (x64) after I redownloaded the installer.
