What is the best learning process for making a character?

Hi everyone..

There are some guides to export from 3DS Max to DTS...But I don't really get it...
It says something about node, bounding box, and mounting points...

My experience with 3DS Max is only in modeling. I have a few knowledge about animation, rigging, texturing, but I never done them.

Any advice on what should I learn so I can make my own characer and do some animation in Torque?

And would you be so kind telling me your pipeline when you work to make character?
Like modeling -> texturing -> rigging -> export to DTS or something like that.

Thank you for your help

Check out the Support -> Documentation -> Artists section from the drop down menu at the top of the page. There is a whole host of useful info and tutorials, including this one on basic characters and Max.

For modeling, texturing and rigging you could practise and do some tutorials. There are many of them on the net. The export process for DTS is well explained in the official documentation

@Steve

Thank you very much for the advice and link. I'm gonna check the link tomorrow. It's already bed time here :)

@Picasso

I have seen some tutorials in the net about making a character from modeling to rigging. But I never see something like node, bounding box, and mounting points. Maybe I miss it though (cuz I only read at the modeling section :p)

Thank you Steve, the link you've given to me is really helpful.

But I still don't understand a few things :
1. What is the differences between .DTS and .DSQ?
2. What is the use of "bounds" and dummy "eye"?
3. Why we should change the hierarchy (node)?
4. So we don't export bone to Torque?
5. Why does the orc (default character Torque) in player.max don't have
bounds, sequence, etc?

Would somebody explain it?
Thank you :)

DTS is the model format
DSQ is an animation file

As for the other things, I don't actually use Max, so can't say much about that particular program and exporter.
