DTS shape not lighting properly

I have a DTS shape exported from Max. The textures look OK in the game - but they are unaffected by ambient lighting. I can crank it down to 0 and the textures are still the same brightness.
The object in Max has a single material with materials for sub-objects. If I texture the whole mesh with a single texture instead of using the sub-object material, then the single texture responds to changes in the ambient lighting.
So something is wrong with the sub-object material?

I've never had to re-light for DTS objects / ambient lighting. I did try that - and still didn't work. I think that this is an export problem from Max.

Found the problem - the textures had self-illumination turned on.

Just in case someone else runs across this post - in Max in the properties for a material, in the "Self-illumination" group: even if the checkbox is not on, the spinner must be set to 0 for the texture to not have any self-illumination.

Thats funny the exporter doesn,t even look at that. Maybe it has some adverse affects. I'll have look into it. What version are you using? the one that comes with the code or the on Joe M distributes?Matt

It might have been another setting that changed - that was the only thing I could tell that was different when I got the new model that was correctly lit.

I'm using the one that was compiled for Max5. I actually don't remember which post I found the link in. The filename for the plugin is "max5_2dtsExporter.dle" and it is 1.2 meg in size.It might have been another setting that changed - that was the only thing I could tell that was different when I got the new model that was correctly lit.
