Getting a game out there for a LBE

Hello
I'm new to garage games... I have to say up first I love the idea.
We are creating a VR SIM game and plateform.
Torque seems to be a good engine with a good community.
We have been working to get are project off the ground for 6 years now. We know what we want in the game and the hardware.
Making the software part we can handle, but the specific hardware we need ( a lot of R&D ) we don't have the meens or the butget.
Is it possible to get financed on the potentiel of patent income???
And if so.. who or how?
