[Beta 4 Bug] No lighting on flat surfaces

1. Just like the title says. Both on DIFs and on dae's (exported from T3D with the export to collada from DIF), I get only ambient light on any flat, horizontal surfaces. This is in advanced lighting. Below are two images showing that all I did was rotate the shape slightly, and then the flat surfaces began receiving light. Adding a normal map to the material of the flat surface fixes it as well. (the street and sidewalk textures show the same problem -- and you can see the "driveway" area where the sidewalk is not flat, receives light)
2. I'm also confused by how dark the vertical walls are. The sun in this scene is roughly coming in at the same angle as the camera is looking (elevation is 70). I can turn the sun's brightness up enough that the walls look about right, but then the terrain, roof, flat(ish) surfaces are all severely overbright. Is this a problem with how the materials are set up?
** Edit: It would seem that this is related to these two bugs as well:

@Manoel - Thats an interesting observation.... something i'll be testing. So far i've not been able to recreate this on any of the PCs in the office.

Yes i get that too. I have piece together a few models from RRGTS Downtown district pack, they are dif pieces. Notice the piece in the lower left, its totally dark, the piece on the lower right has been rotated slightly so that its like 1 0 0 0.x. Notice the top of the building is also unlit since it totally flat.

It does look like it only happens for materials without normal maps.
