Max 9 and Collada frustration

Has anyone else encountered this? When I export a piece of geometry from Max 9 using the Collada/FBX exporter from Autodesk the first time I can get a proper .dae file by typing the name manually, but after that it will only export .fbx files. You have to close and re-open Max to get it to export another .dae file.

Thanks for the feedback Kenneth. We do plan to upgrade to 2010 soon, but it's a whole studio here so the cost is a factor.

One more thing I've noticed. This is with the Autodesk and ColladaMAX plug-ins. When I try to export selected pieces it always exports the entire scene.

Make certain that you are using the latest Filmbox release (usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=6837478&siteID=123112) as this will fixup some of the import/export problems that were occuring in past releases.

David - I am using Max 9 at work as well and I had the same issue you are having. Rather than use the Autodesk plug-in, I am using Feeling Software's ColladaMax NextGen v0.9.5.447 plug-in and have had no problems. You should be able to find it on www.maxplugins.de/ just select your version (64/32) and search for the keyword 'collada.'-Crayfish

Thanks Ryan, I tried that and it did indeed solve the problem. Actually I lied. It fixed the problem of not being able to export more than once, but it still exports the entire scene instead of just selected meshes.
