Block Smash - Isometric Game

by Ryo · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 02/28/2003 (1:07 am) · 7 replies

"Block Smash" is my current project, it is basically a "Breakout" clone, but it's Isometric and has a few unique features :)

I'm using "Game Maker" to program it, and "Photoshop 6" to make the graphics.

I hope to have demo out in a week or two :D

I look forward to it. :)

Will it be a free game that you're developing just for fun?

:)

1) my ball took forever once as it bounced side to side
would not return at a decent pace. (second ball)

2) the message box I would get rid of instead pause the ball maybe or something else. (pause it flash it then let it go)

Other than that the color's need to be brighter
and if maybe I could rotate the map so its not turned if I dont like that.

(I didnt really like the rotated map :)

If the ball seems to be stuck moving left and right, move your bat left and right for a few seconds, and it'll kick the ball ;)

I don't if I'll be adding any type of view rotation... but I might...

And yes, all of the graphics need a serious overhaul, lol :)

but it would not reach the ball
it was half way up the screen bouncing side to side .. just a lucky angle
It did eventually slowly crawl down.

I would start by pasting brighter colors on the textures :)

Yes, but the way I have it programmed, moving the bat left and right will slightly change the angle of the ball, so it will fix itself quicker ;)
