unstopable auto shooting

by Donald Teal · in Torque 3D Professional · 06/27/2009 (6:37 pm) · 6 replies

installed the T3D and started using desktop icon. select fps genre kit and then play game.
select play then warrior camp and go. as soon as the game loads it starts firing weapon until ammo is depleted. will do this no matter the weapon selected. also have no sound and it locks trying to close.

any suggestions on how to stop this. did not have this prob on b2.

Look here (post #37 by Rene Damm) or here (post #8 by Rene Damm) for a fix to the hang on exit and no sound issues. The same fix resolves both of them.

I'm at a loss about your continuous fire problem nor can I reproduce it.

yes I have seen those and just haven't done the sound/hang fix yet. Thanks for that.
I even tried redownloading B3 to see if it corrupted in dl.

Just an update on this with B4. Still having auto shooting until ammo runs out in B4. the lockup are gone and the sound ingame works but no munu sound. Also when you leave the mission and it goes to the menu you can not re-enter the mission. have to shut it down and bring it back up to enter.

Question: Do you have an Xbox 360 gamepad connected?

The method for firing in the default scripts is to assign the Xbox 360 triggers to the mouse fire functions. Those functions do not handle the fact that the triggers on the 360 gamepad output values throughout the range of the pull AND release. And for some reason, it defaults to outputting a value from the trigger too in most cases.

If I'm right about you having a gamepad connected, try disconnecting it and let me know. Their new yaw and pitch scripting also doesn't work properly with the right analog stick for looking around. I have alternate gamepad scripting for my projects that I find work pretty acceptably with the exception that my triggers only fire on a full pull of the trigger, wasting the range of the thing...

Just to confirm, with my XBox360 Guitar hero guitar, there is the problem of autofiring. Removing it and restarting T3d the problem goes away
