Point Spotlight Disappearance Issue...

by User · in Torque 3D Professional · 06/26/2009 (8:46 pm) · 5 replies

Um, i checked the forums, i don't know if anyone else is having this problem.

So i've been playing/learning about lighting in T3D, but whenever i create a point spotlight into the map, i adjust it and everything and it goes fine. But when i either look, stand, or am in the lights radius distance, the whole lighting just disappears.

Before i go by spotlight:

After i go by spotlight:

Poof! It doesnt happen with any other types of lights.

Any Ideas?

Hum... thats a strange one.

So your shining that light thru a grid above... is that grid a DTS? Does it have a second LOD that is solid?

No its a .DIF. There acting really strange in T3D. if the collide with any other part of the model, it dissapears. So now im going to try to learn blender, and see if that helps.

To be fair, DIFs are very strange. I hope you have good luck learning Blender. The DIF format, and CSG (Constructive-Solid Geometry) modeling is really on the outs anyhow, and the skills you develop using Blender will be much more applicable.

You know, when I was 12, I think the best I could manage was simple text games written in BASIC on an Apple II. I'm envious of 12-year-olds with Torque3D ;)

text games written in BASIC FTW!

Around 12, I made a single screen shmup, no scrolling, 1 type of enemy - it nearly killed me and put me off making anymore games till FreeSpace's mission editor around 14 years later.

If only all of this user friendly tech was available back then ...
