Lighting looks weird

I downloaded Mathew Jones' 130+ model tree pack (http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/24707) to see how they looked in T3D. If you place a tree in the scene, then move the camera so the mountains in the background are halfway up the tree. You will see that the part of the tree which has terrain behind it is lite just fine, however, parts of the tree where only sky is behind it has a very dark appearance.
Not sure if this is related to the tree objects or T3D engine but thought you might want to know. Not sure this is a bug or not, but will put here just in case.

But as Steve hinted it's related to the need for a proper materials.cs (trans settings... et al) -- the Material Editor is a very handy thing to have.

It's been noticed and brought up several times before here in the Torque 3D forums... feeling to lazy to post one of the links for you :D But as Steve hinted it's related to the need for a proper materials.cs (trans settings... et al) -- the Material Editor is a very handy thing to have.

LerpAlpha is broken in Beta 2. Change the materials CS so that alpha blending is disabled, and alpha test is turned on (Check the materials for the existing trees).

As a programmer I do not have nor desire to know what a material file is or a LerpAlpha :) Just want to take a set of assets and plug-n-play.

Cool guys, thanks. Someone at GG should drop the artist a note so he can fix for T3D. I do not know if he has access this forum or not. As a programmer I do not have nor desire to know what a material file is or a LerpAlpha :) Just want to take a set of assets and plug-n-play.

@Scott - Probably not a good idea. If he updates it now, then he just runs the risk it will break again later. Especially when it's fixed.

Hmmm... considering how long it's been since the artist in question has logged in, and the fact that it's a 4 year old product.... just use the Material Editor to tweak the trees how you want them to appear.
