Alpha problems with collada

Today I tried using collada cylinders to test a cheap way to make some sort of energy beam. I stacked a red beam inside a blue beam to try and get a deeper effect. However the game produces some strange effects when you layer objects with transparencies. The blue beam works fine by itself. Is this a bug?

I guess you use the lerp blend mode?
best results that I achieved so so far with multiple alpha surfaces on the same object were actually with no blend mode for the alpha
