Severe flicker

I've basically implemented a single ship of the Space Warrior tutorial. It builds and runs fine except there is terrible sprite jitter of the spaceship moving around the screen. Is it just my laptop has a poor graphics card (works fine with TGB) or is there some setting I should have?

Tried it but I don't see any effect

After re-reading your original problem, I think I have experienced some of the same issues on my laptop. When I move a sprite around the screen, it kind of jumps and seems a bit jittery as it moves and it isn't very smooth.
I'm found out that when I have my laptop power plugged in I don't notice this issue. However as soon as I start running it on the battery, I see this issue. I'm assuming that my video card or some other hardware is able to perform more efficiently then compared to the battery. Not sure if this is the same for you or not.

Have you tried the SimulateFences option, as mentioned in this thread? http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/92865
I havn't heard that this fixes flickering problems, but there are some cases where its shown some speed-increases. Might be worth a try.
