Non Profit?

Hello. As someone interested in the V12 engine, I was wondering how Non-profit ventures would be handled? A current goal of ours is to get a Babylon 5 First Person RPG out, but to sell the game without a license would be copyright infringement and outright trademark violation. It is possible, though, to make games and mods, as long as they remain free to the end user. This led me to wonder, how would GaragaGames handle such a situation? I most certainly love the idea of working with a bare engine (due to the flexibility versus a simple mod), but if it is not possible, we may have to go towards modding. Please enlighten us, oh holy ones! :)

Not claiming to be a holy one, but making a game/mod free doesn't make the licensing/copyright issues go away. I remember a while ago someone made a Duke3D TC for UT, and 3D Realms stomped on that right quick. Copyright is copyright, regardless of whether you're trying to make money off it or not.

I'm interested though, what are your ideas for a B5 game?

That may be true, but in this case, it has been confirmed that as long as it remains free, it is fine by them. :)

Also depends on the country the team are in. Some countries view free as protected from copyright laws...
