eCommerce Solutions

Greetings, my fellow GG community members!
I am developing a game entitled TerranCore(click here for more info) and I am nearing the completion of it. It has now come time to decide on how to effectively sell the product to customers. So, being I have never sold a product before, I am seeking some advice.
I have observed other methods that have been used to sell games and kits. What I see the most(besides publishing via a third party) is third party payment processing(i.e. plimus.com or esellerate.net), a CMS+Module solution(i.e. Joomla+VirtueMart/DocMan), a pure eCommerce CMS, and just straight up manual processing via paypal.
Currently I am using Joomla CMS for my website. I would prefer to offer as many payment options as possible, therefore pure paypal is out of the question(especially since many people despise and do not use paypal).
So, if anyone who has, or is selling a product could offer any advice on what kind of solution that they opted for, why they chose that solution over other solutions, and any pros/cons associated with it then that would be great. I would appreciate the information immensely!
Thank you for your time.

So I mostly use Google Checkout now. All payouts from them happen automatically within 2 days, and their processing is very fast, so I can usually expect all payments to be in my bank account within about 4 business days from the time the payment is made. There's no requirement to keep a credit card on file, and bank accounts are only used for payouts.
I primarily use them for invoice-based payments, so I'm not sure how well it works for traditional e-commerce, but they do have an API for it which I've heard is easy and powerful.

Yeah PayPal lets users pay with a credit card without having a PayPal account. I prefer not to use PayPal as a merchant though, because of the requirement to keep a credit card on file with them, along with a bank account that can automatically be accessed for payments, which has cost me a lot of money and hassle when my account was hacked more than once a while back. Also PayPal once kept a $5,000 payment in limbo for about 3 months while they hassled me and my client for paperwork. So I mostly use Google Checkout now. Google Checkout would be nice if they let us filthy third-worlders in Europe use it :)
