Unable to run anything... Toolbox problems?

by Alebrije Estudios · in Torque 3D Professional · 05/27/2009 (3:57 pm) · 7 replies

Whenever I run the Torque3D 2009 Beta 2, the ToolBox appears just as expected, but when I select any of the projects in the Projects tag(being My Projects, Demos *PhysX* or Genre Kits *FPS Genre Kit*), and then click World Editor, GUI Editor, or Play Game buttons, the following text appears as an Error:

Unable to load game library C:/Torque/Torque3D 2009 Beta 2/(Rest of the path here)/(Name of the project here).dll. Please make sure it exists and the latest DirectX is installed.

So, for example, if I try to run the Genre Kit, it appears: Unable to load game library: C:/Torque/Torque 3D 2009 Beta 2/Genre Kits/FPS Genre Kit/game/FPS Genre Kit.dll. Please make sure it exists and the latest DirectX is installed.

The exact same message appears with all three buttons (World Editor, GUI Editor, Play Game). What I would expect is to see the World Editor opening, the GUI Editor opening, or the Game runing, depending on which button I clicked.

I checked in the respective folders, and the mentioned dll's existed.

I also tried to run the game directly from the game folder, but the following message appeared. I include the text exactly as it appeared when I tried to open the FPS Genre Kit, but and in Spanish, since it appeared that way.:
Error al iniciar la aplicación porque no se encontró X3DAudio1_6.dll. La reinstalación de la aplicación puede solucionar el problema.

This means that it doesn't find X3DAudio1_6.dll, and that reinstalling the application could solve the problem.

I searched for the file X3DAudio1_6.dll, but I couldn't find it.

I have installed the PhysX System Software, the PhysX SDK, and the Direct X SDK.

I have tried to use Torque3D in three different computers (to see if it was an issue regarding the machine rather than the software): two with Windows Vista Ultimate SP1, and the other with Windows XP SP2, but with all three machines happened the exact same thing. In one of the computers I also tried to uninstall and install again, but the error remains.

I have DirectX 10 installed.
I have an NVIDIA GeTorce 9800 GT

I hope you can help me, 'cause I can't learn Torque3D if I can't use it. And so far, I'm unable to use Torque3D at all, except watching (and only watching) the Toolbox...

Thanx!

X3D is part of the DX SDK (march 2009)
If it is installed correctly it will work.

DX10 is distinct from DX9, it won't solve any DX9 problems.
At best you run the current DX webinstall so you are up to date again.

I have the same problem, which was fixed by updating my directx with the latest installer, however I still can not run the physX demo "In the web". I get the same error

to load game library C:/Torque/Torque3D 2009 Beta 2/(Rest of the path here)/(PhysX...ect).dll. Please make sure it exists and the latest DirectX is installed.

and then my web browser will promptly crash... Using firefox,

Any ideas?

Can you run the PhysX demo outside of the web page? That should give you a clue as to where the problem lies. If the same issue happens with the PhysX demo standalone, then you know its nothing to do with the web tech, but something with how you have PhysX installed.

In further verisons we will have a prompt in the Toolbox (probably when you run it the first time) that lets you know if you have or don't have the latest DirectX (or at least the one needed) and PhysX installed with nice and friendly links to the appropriate places :)

Confirmed as not a bug.
