Torque for Dream Build Play

by Mike Couture · in Torque X 2D · 05/19/2009 (3:03 pm) · 9 replies

I don't know if this question has been answered already, but what are the regulations for using TorqueX 2D Builder for the Dream Build Play competition this year? Can we use it?

It was allowed last year so I think it will be allowed this year. I recommend posting on the creators club page to get a definitiv answer.

Answer is definitely yes. In fact, I've submitted a game last year that was based on Torque X and no problems - other than not winning ;)

Torque X is a partner product to XNA and is distributed from the Creator's Club too. All products in the partner page and all resources in their content catalog can be submitted into the competition.

So the new TX2D / TX3D etc work with XNA 3.1? MS said that was one of the requirements for submitting to DBP.

I'm gonna bump this because I just want to make sure this is kosher before sinking any more time into it- is the current binary of TX3D compatible with XNA 3.1? I don't have the source code so I can't rebuild it, and according to MS, DBP entries must be built with XNA 3.1, so can I use TX3D for DBP '09 or am I wasting my time here?

Hi Talcott,

I'm pretty sure that TX 2D v3.0 doesn't support XNA 3.1 currently (unless there has been an update recently). I believe it is in the works, at least according to this thread: http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/94315.

@Talcott- Apparently if you have source code you can compile for 3.1 currently. John K wrote a blog about it here:

Hope that helps,

Yeah, I read that blog, however, I took it to mean that the Creator's Club version of TorqueX DID support XNA 3.1 (i.e. there's no need to recompile the TorqueX libraries). Is that incorrect?

No, it does not at this time. John said in a another post that he would provide us with updated DLLs....waiting patiently.
