Any Portland, Oregon GG people?

by Spencer Boomhower · in General Discussion · 02/04/2003 (7:01 pm) · 51 replies

This same question was posted once, long ago. Now that I've moved to Portland, I'm curious what the current count is. I know there's a concentration of devs in the Eugene area (naturally) but what about up here in the sprawling PDX metropolis?

Of course, any meeting of Portland (area) developers would have to include a trip here to pay respect to the masters.

Yeah, Portland is a nice place to be, I'm surprised there are so many people around..

I'm a big fan of the meeting for a beer idea.
I'd drive 50 miles for that :)

That would be cool! Do that in the summer so us college brats can show up :)

I'm in southwest Portland, but I'm introverted and I don't drink. 8)

Hello Fellow WEB-FOOTED Portlanders,

Myself and a few other PDX gamers/designers are interested to find some active scripters and programers in this area who might be interseted in getting in on the ground floor of game we are currently developing. We are all graphic designers and mostly we are family too. We would like to extend an invite to our meetings for any of you in this area who might be interested.
Reply here and I'll get back to each of you.

Great to see someone taking the initiative! I'd never even heard of this Game Dev meetup day. Rawkin.

Just one thing, who's idea was it to schedule the meeting to correspond with the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? *And* American Idol (if you're into that sort of thing)? You might've totally alienated your TV nerd contingent (which of course might be a good thing). Or do the hardcore TV nerds have Tivo?

Sigh... looks like I'll have to learn how to use my VCR :)

Just giving this post a bump since there's a meeting tonight. Hope to see some of you there. That is, here:

Actually, I'm not really sure how I'll spot this group. But my (admittedly freaky) picture is in my profile, so maybe if anyone sees this, and then sees me wandering around the Lucky Labrador, you can give a yell.

Wish me luck setting up the VCR :p

PS: Portlanders, don't forget to vote! And I don't mean for the next American Idol (which is like so obviously Ruben, duh). You have until 8 tonight!

Just got back from the meeting. Definitely worth the effort, and great to meet some Portland people serious about making games. And it was at the Lucky Lab brewpub so there was beer. Good beer!
