I just happened on this article about the current status of Atari 2600 developement. It amazes me how they managed to keep young teens entertained with so few resources.

That's a pretty neat article, though. My, how times have changed!
While it's no 2600, my little brother Carl writes and produces games for the Atari Jaguar and Lynx. I've done some backgrounds for Protector SE, and just working with the limited palette and such a small size can be challenging. =) If you're curious, he's still got some of the original Protector (not Protector SE) files here, in their full .lbm (deluxPaint) glory!
Makes me wonder where games twenty years from now will be.
