Just a few brief questions before I leap back into the swing of things.

All right, I haven't played with Torque since version 1.5.2 and they have apparently improved things since then. I'm trying desperately to remember a few things but I just can't.
First off, there is DTS and DIF files, I know one of them is for small objects like guns and the other is for large objects like buildings, I cannot remember which is wich. I THINK the DTS was the smaller objects, since thats the one I recall being able to export from Max.
Second, have they improved the export pipline any? Last time I was working with torque I basically threw up my hands in frustration because I could not get my massive objects into the right format to behave well in Torque and it made me cry. That and I even bought Houdini and STILL couldn't get large objects from MAX into Torque, nore could I do it with constructor. Basially I was just epically failing on all fronts. So have they produces a DIF exporter for Max yet? is DIF even the right term?
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

But T3D does look shiny.

Yeah I was looking into upgrading. I do so love what GarageGames has done for the world with Torque. Mostly I want to know if they've improved the pipeline before I buy another headache. I'm an artist, I don't need this &$%@! in my life. But T3D does look shiny.

Rick, with Torque 3D, you can now import collada files directly. No more dts exporter. Dif is still there, (interiors) but has been depreciated. You can still use the user created dts exporters as well and use polysoup for collisions.

Sounds awesome. And is there a Collada exporter from Max, or do I have to export from Max into Collada first? No big deal, just trying to shorten my pipeline as much as possible. I'm using Max 2009. Generally, my thoughts: artists need to be able to focus on the art and not the export. Thanks,

If max has a collada exporter, just export as collada, and place your dae with textures into torque. It's that simple

truespace is free right now and It has a Collada Exporter that appears to work just fine!

I already have Max and it has a collada exporter, but it turns out TGEA doesn't use collada, only T3D. I have TGEA. But thanks to Polysoup for collisions my project is progressing nicely.
