GuiBitmapButtonCtrl *with* text possible?

When I create a normal GUIButtonCtrl, the text shows up just fine. Once I add a bitMap to it using GuiBitmapButtonCtrl, I can't get any text in the editor's "TEXT" field to show up.
I'm wondering if the two are incompatible.
Ideally, I'd have my button's background in the BITMAP, but the text done real-time. That way, only 3 bitmaps are needed, for buttons with any text. Does Torque Button GUIs not support this? They don't seem to. Looks like I'll have to create bitmaps for every possible button text?
