TGEA XBox 360 question

by Rapid Fire · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 04/23/2009 (6:34 am) · 5 replies

If i license the TGEA engine, will i be able to build and deploy on an xbox. I currently develop using XNA, so i'm a little confused between the TGEA for $300 (which says xbox 360 support) and the Torque 360 for $250 (which is not released yet).

Also if the TGEA has 360 support, does it deploy using XNA Game Studio connect.

Thanks and Best Regards.

TGEA doesn't directly deploy to the 360. You have to obtain a separate license for Torque 360 (which is different from what you're referring to) which requires you to be a licensed Xbox developer.

TorqueX 3D, which you're referring to as Torque 360, is the Torque engine built entirely on XNA and does allow for games to be deployed to the 360 via the Game Creators Club.

As Scott notes, Torque 360 is not TorqueX. TorqueX is built on top of XNA and is available for XNA Community Channel games. Torque 360 is a middleware product based upon TGEA and TGB which integrates with the XDK for officially licensed developers. It costs significantly more than TorqueX, though is still extremely competitive in terms of console middleware.

Ok great, Thanks alot for clarifying this for me. I also have another question. Will the price of Torque X go up, once its officially released ?

I do not have any info on pricing of TX, so I'm not sure.
