Path function setStartNode broken?

When I use setStartNode while an object is folowing a path it actually sends the object to that node instead of just setting the start node. My object is following a path in REVERSE mode and I'm using onReachNode callback to change the start and end nodes the object bounces back and forth.
Is this a bug or is the documentation wrong?
