Does TGEA == T3D (Basic)

I was looking at buying a single developer license of TGEA, but with the new T3D right around the corner, am I better off waiting, or will I be able to use T3D basic if I have TGEA license?
And if that is the case, why not lower the price of TGEA to $250? seems crazy paying more for something very soon to be outdated?

there will be a upgrade path from TGEA to T3D if you don't want to buy the basic version of T3D if you already own TGEA.
also T3D basic might not come with source but they are adding allot of stuff to where you might not need source. if you do need source you can just upgrade to T3D pro when you get the money but it cost allot more but T3D is well worth the price even with basic i think.
its all up to you though not me as i already getting T3D pro.

no you will not be able to use T3D basic if you own TGEA. if you buy TGEA and want to use t#d basic you have to then buy the basic.there will be a upgrade path from TGEA to T3D if you don't want to buy the basic version of T3D if you already own TGEA.

T3D Pro will include the source code, and if you own TGEA, you get T3D Pro for just the difference in cost.
In this respect, TGEA might become outdated but definitely not obsolete. To this day people are still using TGE (the "outdated" TGEA), and you can still buy that if you wanted to here even though GarageGames doesn't advertise it anymore.
Confused? More information here

I think the short answer is that TGEA comes with source code to modify the engine. T3D basic does not and is aimed at beginners/hobbyist. T3D Pro will include the source code, and if you own TGEA, you get T3D Pro for just the difference in cost.

As stated.. TGEA is = to T3D Pro.. not T3D basic. Basic has no source so what you get is what you get. But.. Basic would be nice for artists team members who do not need to work with the code so..
In the end.. if you buy TGEA.. you get the cost deducted off of T3D anyway.. so not buying TGEA (if thats even an option) makes little sense.
Good Luck

Who say's TGEA will be outdated? It isn't all that difficult with all of the resources out and about to get TGEA close to T3D levels imo. As stated.. TGEA is = to T3D Pro.. not T3D basic. TGEA is better than T3D basic in my opinion. I was waiting for the specs and pricing but I think I'm going to go with TEGA myself.
Hope this helps,
Chris
