TGEA vs T3D costs

by Jim Rucker · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 04/14/2009 (8:46 am) · 3 replies

I'm a little confused about the pricing. TGEA Basic is $300, but T3D Basic is listed at $250. Why is the newer one cheaper? I thought it may be because T3D isn't out yet, but when I tried to preorder T3D it put the professional version in my cart (I can't justify $800 just yet).

T3D Basic doesn't come with the C++ source code, where TGEA basic does. It is also missing a couple of the features from the T3D Pro feature (advanced lighting and web publishing).

There is no such product TGEA Basic - what you mean is TGEA Indie ($295) which is equivalent to Torque 3D Professional ($1000).

The "Basic" license is a new type of license introduced for Torque 3D which provides a binary only (i.e. no source code) version of the engine and also some other feature will not be included i.e. Advanced lighting, road/river tools, web publishing.

There is no Pre-Order available for Torque 3D Basic only the Professional that's why it puts that version in your cart when you click pre-order. I would guess that the Basic version won't be available to purchase until the engine ships sometime around May.
