TX gives you 360 portability, though. If MS really like something you upload, they'll shower you with gifts.

TGB gives you portability. TX is at the mercy of Microsoft's strict quality control right now ;)TX gives you 360 portability, though. If MS really like something you upload, they'll shower you with gifts.

Who ever you select to go with you will be stuck with the long end of fee based licensing for just everything you want to release. So before doing this you must have a business plan in place to properly make a sound purchase to get into the game. What you are not told upfront during check out is that a host of other fees are required unless you read the fine print within the agreement.

TX2D/3D = C#, no TorqueScript, PC and Xbox 360
Those are some considerations too, depending on your skillset and market you are targeting.

What is Sean Batson saying? Torque is going to charge me more then the 100$ licensing fee?

This is from TGB, and represents all "fees" associated with the product.
"4. FEES.
(a) The TGB Indie Game License fee for the Engine is $100 per each programmer using or accessing the source code to the Game(s). Licensee may not sell or otherwise distribute Games created with the Engine until the license fee has been paid. There are no additional royalties, and Licensee does not have to show the Games or publish the Games with GarageGames.
(b) Licensee agrees to display a full screen Torque Game Builder logo in the start up sequence of any game created and released with the Engine. This requirement may be waived for an additional fee. Contact licensing@garagegames.com for details.
(c) Licensee agrees to include in the "About" box or in the credits screen: (i) a link to www.garagegames.com, and (ii) the wording "This game powered by Torque Game Builder." This requirement may be waived for an additional fee. Contact licensing@garagegames.com for details.
(d) Licensor may use Licensee's name in connection with the Games and in any customer reference list or in any press release issued by Licensor regarding the licensing of the Engine."

I have no idea what he is rambling about, but it is incorrect. Our EULA's are clearly viewable on the engine product pages in the tabs at the bottom. This is from TGB, and represents all "fees" associated with the product.

I think he must be talking about Microsoft.
I heard you have to give them 25% of sales; which is actually a great price considering the market that your game gets exposed to.

On-disc publishing is a whole different beast.

For XBLA games, it was usually 70% to the developers, but that changed around the time Braid was released. There was talk about what a sweet deal Jonathan Blow had, where he got 70%. Not sure what it's now, but it's most likely not less than Apple's cut of AppStore sales.On-disc publishing is a whole different beast.

I have personally never tried TorqueX, I am currently learning TGB and really like it. The best bet is to try both programs for the 30 day trial and then decide which you prefer
