Help!!!!!: DTS Exporting in Maya 2009
by Michelle E. Smith · in Torque Game Engine · 04/01/2009 (11:29 pm) · 5 replies
I've looked for what seems like an eternity for a viable copy of the maya20092dts exporter (x32bit version). The only copy I've been able to find just crashes the program when I attempt to export. I'm hoping that there's a fix out there somewhere, or maybe someone knows of an alternate converter that I could use for the time being? I'm supposed to have these models converted before the end of the week, so the sooner the better. Thanks!

Thank you for the help. More times than I can count I've asked for help in a forum anywhere on the web and got absolutely none.

The last couple months I've been trying to go through and help out the art areas of torque where people have problems. Keep posting with more info if things break!

Did that help? Let me know if it's still crashing. If it still is, you need to locate that dump.dmp file, open it in notepad, and paste it here so others can look at it and see what's crashing it.The last couple months I've been trying to go through and help out the art areas of torque where people have problems. Finally got a chance to follow the tutorial link you gave me and I had no problem (or so it appears so far). No crashes at least, which is way better than where I was before. Thanks again, and I'll report back when our programmer tells me how it worked out in TGE.

After much teeth grinding and hair pulling we finally got everything working. If you are looking for a great tutorial on how to add collision check this out:http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-export-a-model-collision-from-maya-to-torque-179896/

You may not be exporting correctly. Go here:(dannyn1.web.aplus.net/torque/maya2dts/ )
If you are crashing the exporter accidentally, there should be a dump.dmp file where you've got your project set. One of the easiest ways to crash an export is to not setup the file structure correctly with a Start node, a base node and a bounds object. If that's not your problem, try downloading the exporter from here:( docs.garagegames.com/artist/official/exporter_files/maya_exporters/Maya2DTS_All_... )and follow the install instructions very carefully.
