attaching a weapon inside ms3d or 3dsmax?

Hello everyone, How do you attach an object (a sword) to a player's hand (mount point 0) inside ms3d or 3dsmax? I have mount points defined as joints but have no clue on how to attach a seperate mesh to this node. I plan to convert this 3d model to a sprite for a 2d game thats why I need the weapon attached.

Thanks for the help Jeremy. I finally got my player to wield his sword. Porting a 3d game to 2d is full of new challenges!

Just put the sword in the characters hand, as if it is holding it. Then there is a link button int he top left of 3D max. Use the link tool by clicking your sword and dragging to your hand bone. This links the movement of the sword to the movement of the hand.
To link the two objects within a graph(more precise) just open the schematic view. There is a button at the top toolbar that opens the schematic view. within this graph you can use the link tool to link objects. Again link the sword to the hand bone.
You can see objects that are linked within the schematic view. This helps to understand the hierarchy. You will see an arrow going from your hand bone to your sword when they are linked.
Being linked will make the sword inherit the transform/rotation of the hand.
