What is the best place to learn to make games? I have gone to informit.com and I have been learning from there but what else is a good website to learn?

Yes there are some tutorials and some great examples of how to do things that are games related, but I feel the best place to learn the task that you wish to do is at a good University or College.
The experiance that you will get there not just in how to use the software, but the theory, and how to manage/deal with manages is invaluable far outweights the time and money that you will spend there.
Once you have learnt that solid foundation then you can begin to specialize and become the best that you can possible be.

I am not a very strong believer in using the Internet to learn how to do a task or use a tool. Yes there are some tutorials and some great examples of how to do things that are games related, but I feel the best place to learn the task that you wish to do is at a good University or College.

I would say learning on an engine is a great way of getting experience. Just try modifying different things like rate of fire and damage in the Half-Life or Quake engines. You will have to go through a bunch of code just to figure out what's going on which can be very helpful...and very confusing. You just have to stick with it and keep searching for what your looking for. You'll find it.

You can probably start by browsing the Resources section on the right.
