Torque X 2D/3D Combo and/or discount?

by Ron Barbosa · in Torque X 3D · 03/27/2009 (12:07 pm) · 1 replies

Hey all...I just built a 2D Creators Club game (using only XNA Game Studio 3.0). I'd like to build more games and look into 3D games as well (I'm dying to get proficient with the Torque family of game engines).

Is there a Torque X 2D/3D combo that I can purchase or does one come at a discount if you own the other?

Also, I know Microsoft offers some versions of Torque X (for Game Studio 2.0), is this the 2D engine or the 3D engine? Is it a hobbled version of what's available from Garage Games directly? Will it work with Game Studio 3.0? I'm a Creators Club premium member, so I can access these builds, I just don't want to waste time with tech that's not the real deal.

Thanks in advance! I'm just curious...I'd like to not spend $400 if I can help it (especially with Torque 3D almost on the market).

Thanks

The Creators Club version is binary only, no source. I've heard that MS is dropping support for Visual Studio Express 2005, so get it now if you can. If you get the source version, then you'll need to recompile it to work with XNA 3.0. Hopefully a new version will be available soon(it's in certification still). As far as I know, there is no discount.
