some questions

by Markus Enkelmann · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 03/12/2009 (6:33 am) · 8 replies

How does the engine figure out which script is a server Script and which a client Script? Is the name of the directory crucial .. server/client .. or serverScripts/clientSripts (common). Is serverWhatever/clientWhatever possible?

Should groundCover working? (1.8.1) .. i put grco. in the sceene .. select a bilboard (Weed01.png) .. select a .dts (rock1.dts) .. but nothing to see.

I think the server know what is a client script by who executes it - if the client executes it, it is a client script.

Groundcover does work - I posted a working one here:

..
terrain = "terrain";
SurfaceType0 = "Any"; (SurfaceType1, SurfaceType2 .. )
..

does not exists in my datablock build with the editor. Add them manualy has no effekt. I use 1.8.1 default installation with the changes from TGEA 1.8.1 Known Issues thread, compiled with the August 2008 dx sdk.

@Markus - that's also using the TWSurfaceReference resource (I wish this were included in the default TGEA!). Just delete out the stuff that doesn't apply to you.

Arrogance? Better then ignorance i guess. Forum troll's often dont have anything of content to contribute, 97% of my posts are answering questions from people like you, so i like to think of myself as the forum fairy.

Your question was answered in the forum you got the data block from. One would think that would be the first place to study the problem. Sorry for expecting people to read and comprehend.

@Jaimi: thx, now it works fine :)) and with TWSurfaceReference very flexible with nice results :)=) yes, should be part of the default installation! i vote for it!

@ Gypsyblood: yes, the datablock was postet by jaimi ... yes i saw it .. and i see the diferences between the posted block and the block written by the editor in 1.8.1 ... but i dont have realized the default 0 value of probability, i never said its a bug - i asked should it work? - because i am not firm its a bug or my mistake ... it was my mistake .. uh .. sh..happens .. sometimes it is enough to get a kick in the right direction - ppl like jaimi do, you not. If you not willing to help, go! and dont comment my posts again!

Sorry you took offense. My deepest and must humble of apologies, I shall slice my typing fingers with razorblades and dip them in salt and lemon juice until i have learned my lesson. I will not offer flippant observations to any of your threads. Once more do so please forgive me. It was wrong of me to expect you to read the full thread you were linkd to, i should not expect people to go the extra distance without retribution to my comments. Whoa is me for being so very wrong.
