Is there any technical documentation for TGEA?

Pretty much none of that documentation works since I can't login to TDN. Besides that im asking about a technical document for the engine. Like a detailed document of how the engine works. Like the built in physics, networking, what happens in the main loop, built in AI if there is any.. etc

docs.garagegames.com/tgea/official/ - check out Engine Reference. It might not be as detailed as what you're looking for but there's a fair bit of detail about the engine code there.

I guess if I have some spare time I will make my own technical docs and place them on TDN. Although those docs do include alot of the things that should be in a technical do.

Why can't you log in to TDN? For such docs to be useful to you, you have to have access to the source code. If you have such access, you should be able to log in.

You will need to buy a lic in order to access that type of information on TDN, even to place them on TDN.

Naw I can access the TDN already. The login link in TDN is broken that is all.

@Braedon - What specifically are you looking for? I might be able to help.

@Sherman Pendley - I am the designer and producer of the team. So while I can "view" the source at the workstation of someone who owns TGEA.. it doesn't make any sense for me to buy a copy for myself. Although I must admit that it would be useful to view the "hidden" forums from my own account xD

I will post the template I use when I get home. Its just documentation that I should pass on to all members of the team that explains how the engine handle's things so we can decide what feature's need to be implemented or removed. One of the major things we need to know about is how TNL works.@Sherman Pendley - I am the designer and producer of the team. If not, you should re-read the EULA, because to me that sounds like "creative avoidance" of the legal issue and asking for something you have no right to.

Shouldn't your developers be looking/writing instead? Btw, TDN and the official docs are publicly available.

@Braedon - As a reminder, anyone that can "touch" the code must have a license. This includes the scenario of the engine being shared via source control. If you are the producer/designer, then why would you need the technical docs?Shouldn't your developers be looking/writing instead? Btw, TDN and the official docs are publicly available.

Anyways with the impending release of T3D whenever we really don't feel like spending too much on TGEA. I would say were using it more to get people use to torque.
Anyways sorry if letting people on the team look at the source is against the Licence but we are simply trying to prepare for using T3D.
Basically we have no plans to actualy use TGEA but simply asuming that T3D will be simular (which we will be buying licence's for...)

I don't need them, I need to write them for anyone coming onboard who doesn't know what torque is.Anyways with the impending release of T3D whenever we really don't feel like spending too much on TGEA. I would say were using it more to get people use to torque.

Lol I hope thats a joke since this is the first time I have ever seen you :(

Caylo's not joking- and he's right. The rest of us paid for the source, and not to have someone who is lazy grab a copy and not want to give their due.
Get right, and the community will treat you really well. Stay illegal, and you get nothing (except maybe an email from GG, since you dimed yourself out to them).

Independent or not, the game creation industry depends quite a bit on trust and honesty with other people.
Braedon Hinchcliffe, you say you are the Designer, Producer and Director of Project "Crimson Haze" but if you are going to start out by stealing that speaks volumes about your professional character.
EDIT:Oh, and i just tied your name, project and the fact that your a cheat together for future GOOGLE searches useing Braedon Hinchcliffe, but ill be happy to delete my post once i see Torque Owner under your name.

Well plain and simple, your stealing if you do not own a legal license to TGEA. If your stealing the 3D engine, what is to keep you honest when dealing with Intellectual Property? Would you work for a company who stole cheated and lied openly, or even trust such individuals? Its quite plain and easy to see what your above motives are, and you mostly admit to it.Independent or not, the game creation industry depends quite a bit on trust and honesty with other people.

Ill clarify quickly that obviously im stealing nothing since I don't use torque in any way. I don't have a copy on my computer and if looking at what someone who I employ is working on is againt the license then too damn bad. If I wan't to see what someone is doing then I damn well will.
Now back to the topic -,-

EDIT:
This thread was locked before i had a chance at rebuttal to :
First Google Do work that way, I checked it before adding that edit. But with the thread locked now it is removed from search, o-well.
Second, i have artwork shipped in a number of major titles. I have done well enough to retire from the necessity of serious work at good age of 28. And the fact that i have never felt the need to justify my self worth by bragging and listing all my accomplishments should speak volumes about my merit.
It is a logical assumption that your wishing to create your own 'documents for the team' imply your premeditated desire to use and share your dubious copy of TGEA with other non licensed people of a similar moral scrutiny. The only reason GarageGames do not see yourself and others like you as a real threat, is because one can not build a professional foundation on top of the rubble of deceit and thievery. The computer game industry evolves much to rapidly to offer an entry point for people of such behavior, it has never been tolerated within this industry where ones reputation speaks louder then individual accomplishments.

Now, if your team does has source code access, then they should be the ones logging in to the private areas and creating those documents. If you don't have coding skills, that would be the best practice.
03/10/2009 (7:27 pm)
This is very much on-topic. If you're utilizing source, and it is not paid for, it's stealing. That goes for members of your team as well. Only one license per seat is allowed. Now, if your team does has source code access, then they should be the ones logging in to the private areas and creating those documents. And honestly if GG was as anal as you guys are about me viewing the source of an engine I don't use myself I doubt they would have any customers outside the hobbyist. Ironically it looks like T3D is moving away from the hobbyist and more towards the real indie studio's that actual want to finish a project with their engine. So hopefully when that rolls around we won't have to deal with people spamming posts with useless off-topic stuff.
I don't own a licence for 3DS max but I look at other people's models at there workstation (who do own a licence) and trust me 3DS costs a lot more than Torque.
