Online Game Player Limit

I was just curious, if you were going to make an online game, how many players could be in a server without it crashing due to mass lag?

Depends on server hardware, bandwidth, and in-game network settings.

As Michael mentions it's mostly determined by your hardware but to add a little more to that - Torque has a high tick rate which is great for smaller worlds and fast paced games i.e. FPS's but if you slowed that as you would normally do for an RPG for example you could handle a lot more.

Ok, i was thinking a mixture of RPS, RPG and building. Hard to explain but really cool.
