max 8.0 crash on export

by Infinitum3D · in Artist Corner · 02/26/2009 (2:39 pm) · 3 replies

I'm using Max 8.0 and trying to export a .dts (ceilingfan.dts) with an embedded ambient animation sequence. Max crashed on my first two attempts at exporting. I did a cold reboot, and it exported fine.

Was it a simple memory (RAM) overload? or something more sinister?

If its the problem that I am thinking of, it's probably the a known issue with the DTS Exporter (not the Pro version) this is unfortunately something that can happen when using MultiRes. The exporter utility completes the export process, but at some time when its restoring control back to 3DS Max it throws some sort of exception and crashes the application :(

On the plus side your DTS should be exported correctly though.

If this isn't the case just respond back and we will see about sorting the problem down.

I have never experienced this, can you confirm the max versions/exporters Logan ?

Specs here:
'max9sp2' and 'max2dts for max9'

Basicly everything since Max7 onward. I only use the regulard good old DTS exporter for my work. Like I said it doesnt happen all the time, mostly just with multires and skin objects.
