Gamer's Level

I have been watching the gaming trends lately and I am disturbed by what I see.

Is the gamer's intelligence going downhill, are shooters being marketed to a ever younger gaming base, or are the programmers getting less intelligent or lazy?

Every game (and this includes board games) is getting "dumbed down".

So the real question comes, how stupid do we want our prospective buyers to be?

I think it's the consumer base.

I agree the games are mostly FPS and there are no good RPG's out there and or racing games. The best games I would have to say would be the sierra Quest's games where you walked around solving problems; I learned from that style of game that there is always another way to look at the situation at hand and it help me in the real world by just standing back and evaluating the situation at hand!
