Is the iPhone or an iPod Touch required to develop on?

If I were to purchase iTGE, and develop games using the Torque Game Engine for Apple Inc, which is required? The iPod Touch, or the iPhone? Can you only obtain a developers license when buying the iPhone? Or can you only have an iPod Touch and legally develop games/apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch? Thanks in advance.

The SDK license is available to owners of either one. There are hardware features that the iPhone has, such as a built-in camera, that the iPod Touch does not have. Obviously, software that uses such hardware will only run on an iPhone. Aside from that, you can effectively treat them as identical devices.

The full SDK licence does not require you to prove you have anything. It's just a subscription. I signed up a week before I even bought my iPod touch.

Be aware that the 33% bus speed increase of the new generation of the iPod touch can spoil you. All the old devices have 100MHz data buses, while the 2G iPod touch has a 133MHz bus. This translates to much faster transfer speeds - for example, startup time could vary by several seconds (1 sec on the newest devices, 4 on the old). That's an eternity to the average user ;)

The CPU speed has also changed between the four different hardware variants running iPhone OS. That's two generations each of the phone and the PDA. I think it ranges from 412MHz to 532Mhz, but this doesn't affect things as much.
