TGEA for Linux

I use Linux for everyday use and I'm dying to see TGEA on Linux like it's predecessor TGE. Does GarageGames rely on community contributions to port this great engine over? I'm a little hesitant to upgrade until I'm sure TGEA will support Linux (even if its a year or two away I would upgrade).

Since it's built on DirectX 9 shaders I guess I should just give up the dream and just use TGEA in Windows. Oh well.

@Sam: Just to note, it also supports OpenGL as of 1.8.

Sadly I too cannot upgrade from TGE without Linux support (I don't use Windows).

It's not a platform that GG are going to support TGEA running on though so to get a Linux version would mean someone from the community porting over and maintaining a Linux version

I can't help at this point, but I will mention that I am another TGE user who will not be upgrading to TGEA/T3D unless it runs on Linux.

Has anyone considered offering a bounty for a port of TGEA to Linux? If not, I'd like to start one. If those of us wishing to see the port each contribute I think we can come up with a decent sum to entice someone to accomplish the port. I'd be willing to contribute a minimum of $100 to the effort. I've seen at least one other thread were someone was offering to pay a bit more for a Linux version as well. How about it?

I'm a starving college student, but I could scrape together at least 20 bucks extra for TGEA in Linux.
