NOTE: The title of this thread is actually
Photoseek media asset management: Alienbrain for the "indie" - not indi. I just wanted to clarify this.

Some of you may remember me from the Garagegames.com developer roundtable where we discussed using Blender in independent game development. Well now I would like to take some time to query independant developers here at Garage Games concerning a project I am heading up that is in it's infancy. The topic of this thread gives you a clue about what this project is. What follows is a brief questionare about current efforts to manage a project and its assets, both code and art. We need to find out what developers are looking for and what they expect. I would appreciate it if you could take the time to answer the questions here. Thank you all for your time.

Also feel free to make your own comments after your questionare answers. Once again, thank you for your time.

1) What is the size of your team?

2) What 3D application do you use to create your 3d models?

3) What integrated development environment do you use to develop your game code?

4) What do you use to create textures for your 3d models?

5) What project management system, such as Microsoft Project or MRProject, do you use?

6) What is your current method of code and art asset organization?

7) Do you use a file naming system?

8) If you do have a system do you have a central place where files are kept?

9) How do you keep track of files being worked on by multiple developers?

10) Would you use a system that integrated project management code and media asset management in one solution?

11) Are you interested in a software based solution only or an all inclusive service based system where your team members used client software to access assets through a VPN like system setup through a centralized server?

12) Would you prefer a system that stored assets in a central repository or one that stored them in a central repository and had the ability to track assets across multiple sites(workstations, servers, etc.)?

13) If a system of services and software were provided that was tailored for a virtual team to allow them to manage both code and software how much would you expect to pay?

14) Would you be willing to pay for time based services, under contract, such as 3, 6, 9, or 12 months (similiar to a web hosting service)?

That's it for the questions. Please answer them to the best of your knowledge. Also feel free to email me your answers. Thank you again for your time.
