Organizing your workspace

I'm wondering if there is a way to somehow "compact" the TGB workspace if you have to bring in a few thousand art pieces? At 3 squares across it would mean scrolling down literally thousands of rows to find stuff, is there anyway to segment the workspace on a per level basis or make new categories that can be hidden from view or anything like that?
