Is Torque X 3D a superset including Torque X 2D?

Newbie!

I'm keen to purchase TX3D - but while I'm waiting for release, I want to play with TX2D. If I purchase TX2D, will I be duplicating stuff when I purchase TX3D or will there be an upgrade path? Or do I need them both?

Torque X 3D and Torque X 2D are non-overlapping products, so if you want to do both types of games, you do need both.
