Finally purchased the missing parts of TX

by Brian · in Torque X 2D · 01/30/2009 (4:14 pm) · 8 replies

Okay, so I finally joined the TX Pro Club... had previously only had a TGE and TX builder license. So here's the question... is there a private TX forum or did the site mess up and not give me access?

Okay, I answered my question... found the link on the documentation page and it doesn't give me access. I went ahead and reported it in the site feedback thread.

I'm checking on it.

@David - Okay, thanks! Looks like someone else had this issue too on the site feedback thread. Looking at what the other person had leads me to believe there might be a possibility if you already have other licenses, that it may just be giving incorrect access since the other person seems to have about the same entries on the forum. I also already had a license for TXB from the old site when I purchased the rest but I'm not sure if that is the same purchase path as the other person.

As far as I can tell the Torque X pro private forum was never migrated to the new site hence my asking GG what is happening for TX Pro owners. Given that TX is now split into two different products TX 2D and TX 3D I'm suprised they even still sell TX Pro.

I'm fairly certain TX Pro should no longer exist in it's current form given that it is

A) Built against XNA 2.0.
B) Not compatible with TX 3D Builder due to the TX 3D re-write.

I'll be looking with interest at what any official GG employees have to say about this situation. So far they have been totally sitent on the matter.

@Peter - You're partially right. It didn't give me the option to purchase TX Pro persay... it gave me a discounted version of Torque X 2D (since I hard already purchased TXB), however when you open the actual downloads folder, it still says Torque X Pro 2.0. Here's a quote and a reference to some more clarity on it from another thread as David always seems to be in the know:

Yeah. One of the things that is planned is to combine the builder and source into the license price. At least that is how I understand it (and have definitely been known to be wrong). But it was confusing to have multiple products and people who were purchasing "Pro" expected to get a builder license or if they purchased a builder license, they wondered why the version they downloaded was the old XNA 1 Refresh version (it was because Builder was rolled into the TX 2.0 installer whereas it was not in the XNA 1.0 installer).

Is it? I still don't have a link for it. :(
