Seriously, you may have not heard of this movie, but you are seriously missing out on a excellent movie. I'm no good at reviews, but here's a couple reviews, which might get you interested. Hurry up cause it won't be in theaters for long (Thank you wonderful Dimension Films).

Looks like a cross between 1984, fahrenheit 451, and any action movie. Considering I like all 3 of those, Ill probably go see it :)

I wish it was out here.. stupid limited releases.

Yeah, they only released it to some 300 theaters nationwide (and none to Canada...idiots). And they released it at the busiest period of the year. This movie if it had been properly marketed and released a little later could have made so much cash.

Idiots at Dimension Films.

Hey Tim, don't worry, I'll watch it again to make up for you.

That movie out-matrixed the matrix. Highly recommended.

I'd probably call it more inspired by Brave New World than 1984, though.

Not to get all geek fan boy on you Mark, but actually, 1984 is the director Wimmel's favorite book...
You know what else es kinda cool. If you check out the CHUD thread on Equilibrium, the director posts several times answering questions about the movie.

That looks bad ass! Kind of reminds me of Memento, not in terms of content, but the fact that it was a limited release and an awesome movie. I'm gonna hafta keep an eye out, but where I live, they don't even release big movies all the time.

That looks awesome! I'm going to have to hunt down a theater playing it.

It does look like an interesting film but I really have trouble trying not to picture him as the psycho in "American Psycho".

I agree that people should check this movie out. Yes, it borrows heavily from 1984 (Big Brother/Father), Brave New World (Soma/Prozium), Farenheit 451 (Burning the Mona Lisa, Destroying Cultural works in general), and even Total Recall (spoiler so I won't talk about it, but those who saw it probably know what I'm talking about).

Nevertheless, it was still a great movie and had some fantastic action scenes, especially when you consider the budget on this thing was tiny.

Please don't compare to Matrix. It is just different plain and simple. Just got done watching this on terrible resolution on a big ass download I got off Kazaa. All that said, this is by far one of the coolest movies i've seen in a long long time. Awesome action scenes, gripping story, and more. What was best was how utterly bizzare and unique some of the fighting scenes were. Really don't want to discuss to ruin the surprise for those that have yet to see it. Just trust me, you are in for quite a treat when you see this! It is well worth it to watch it on a 15" monitor in terrible resolution if that is the only means available. (Nearest theater playing it is a 3 hour drive away). It ironically took me less time to download it. So when's this bad boy come out on DVD?

You're absolutely right jeremy. It ain't nothing like the matrix. I don't know why people like comparing it to it. Even th emovie poster says something to the effect "Blows matrix away".

Anyways, it's great movie and stands on its own (not matter what you think of the matrix).

I'm probably gonna download it as well. It's not in theaters around me anymore. I'm gonna miss the better resolution.

As for DVD release, I haven't been able to find any info yet, but I imagine (actually I hope, because it's not sure) that 5-6 months from now, we should see something. This feels like a big sleeper hit. Stupid Dimensions.

I dig the matrix, but yeah, this is just something different. That final fight between john and the main bad guy is just so bizarre yet awesome! I watched it again. Dimensions FORCED me to download this for free. I would have gladly paid $8 to see this. I would have even driven an hour to go see it..but 3 hours to the nearest one and back is a little out of my way. Damn! I really wanna see this on the big screen! Maybe it will get a second release like Blair Witch or Memento. January would be a sweet month to do it. No competition.

I know what you're feeling Jeremy. I doubt it will be released however. Dimensions only released this movie at all because of contractual obligations. They don't give two rats' ass about it. I'm not sure why...

I *ahem* have now seen it. I quite enjoyed it, then again I always like "supression by the state" type films.

I would have really liked to have seen this at the cinema. If there's barely a US release then I doubt we'll see it in the UK. This film could have done really well... obviously someone doesn't like money. The DVD is something to look forward too.

Even the limited release was at a somewhat strange time (Harry Potter / Bond / LoTR). There's got to be some fairly heavy internal politics on this... wonder what they are. If anyone has some good gossipy links please post them.

It was quite good. I'd say some of the fights were a bit over done, but incredibly badass regardless. And the reason it got barely released was probably because it got BLASTED by critics...they tore the shit out of that movie. I don't know why, but all the reviewers hated it. Go figure.

Every review I have read said it was good

No, I think Ryan's right. A lot of the mainstream papers gave it bad reviews. At the same time, a lot of people online have given it good reviews. I believe Ebert and roeper (sp?) both liked it.

If you really want to find out all you could possibly ever want to know about this movie, check out this thread, but make sure to give yourself 4-5 hours. By the way, the director actually posted a couple times on that thread.
