Question about Houdini HD

I usually use other programs, but I had time on my hands and decided to check out Houdini HD. I downloaded it from the main site for free, and began testing it. I found that I really liked it. It's pretty intuitive in its structure, and is fairly simple to use.

My question..

Can someone clarify for me what I can use the 99.00 version for.

I read this in the EULA:

Quote:(g) use the software for other than non-commercial uses

and then this:

Quote:(i) convert Apprentice Edition files to a Commercial (non-Apprentice Edition) file format.

Further.. It says this:

Quote:Non-commercial uses are those that don't involve paid work (i.e. compensation) or work for commercial purposes. You are permitted to use this software for learning, creating content for demo reels, participating in animation contests, game asset creation, and entering the SIGGRAPH Electronic Theatre. You are not permitted to profit from work done with the Houdini Apprentice HD Edition, with the sole exception being assets used for game creation with the Torque Game Engines or used in content packs for the Torque Game Engines as covered under the terms of the Torque Game Engine INDIE End User License Agreement.

It seems to say to different things I guess. So.. I AM allowed to make game assets for any of my games.. as well as for content packs that I can sell as long as they are for GG products?

Thanks,

~LK~

You can use it to create commercial content for Torque, but you cannot use it to make other content (such as using the API to create your own FBX exporter for use in XNA or some such).
