v12 linux

Windows 98SE and I just arent getting along lately and (Win98SE) has proven to be not the idealistic OS for developing.
I know people recommend Windows2k but I do not have the doe (nor do I want to spend the doe, rather spend it on v12)for Win2k.
I've been playing around with slackware linux, its not perfect but I like it.
My role in my game project is working with level, terrain and mission editors. Will whatever I create on linux work on a windows (or mac) computer?
Thank you

You are going to have trouble with the fact that Worldcraft (used to create structures and buildings) is a Windows only program. The actual terrain/mission editor though is part of the v12's executable so if the v12 will run on that platform you should be fine.

TonyX: I have started to migrate to Linux (Mandrake 8) but I have kept Windows 98 (SE) installed as well and I dual boot. This has proven to be a good solution. If there is a Windows only program then I boot up and do what I must. Then when Im done I go back to Linux.

Maybe a Linux section (development/use/etc..) would be a good idea to have on GG? People who know how to get the V12 running under Linux (or will know) could help those who are new. Maybe a quick Tutorial or something that states the required programs/files?

I am currently working on a port of the v12 to Linux. I am aiming for any part of the v12 that runs under Windows will run under Linux. You will have to run the Worldcraft program under Windows, though.

Have you tried formatting and reinstalling Win98SE?
Any time that OS and I start arguing, a reformat has always fixed things.
