Single UV Texture mapped to Multiple Objects (Blender)

I am modeling a robot which is made up of several seperate meshes (objects) in blender. I have Unwrapped the main body and have a texture started for it but I have ran into a problem. When another object is selected, it changes to a seperate UV texture in the UV window. I would like all the individual objects to be unwrapped and use the same UV Texture Space. Is this possible in Blender?
I have looked into Join objects but this is not really what I want to do because leaving them seperate makes things much easier to animate as individual mechanical pieces...

I need to pay you for Blender lessons :)....
I (quickly) tried that out this morning on a couple of cubes and it seems to work well. After Seperating meshes, I exported to OBJ and brought it into Milkshape reassigned the one texture and voila! They were mapped correctly to one texture. My pipeline at the moment uses Milkshape for animation until I can wrestle blender to the ground.
Thanks..

I just created an account to read a hidden comment that was redacted. Why would you people do that? I don't think I'll be coming back if that's how your operations work.

I've seen several threads that are from that time that still contain useful information and weren't redacted.
If you cant find what you need here, try posting a question or two. So far the community has been very helpful to me and I've only been modeling for a few months now. I asked some fairly uninformed questions and got pretty good resources/answers considering how often these guys hear some of the same questions.
There is a great community here. Don't let one post drive you away. :P

I'm not sure why it was removed, and I didn't see the post, but considering this thread was from 2009, it could have easily been information that is no longer valid or was misinformation.I've seen several threads that are from that time that still contain useful information and weren't redacted.
