Is it possible to use GMax for all the game modeling, animation, etc. with the Torque engine? Will Torque allow the file type, or would I need a converter?

gmax is not meant for use in commercial products. that would violate the liscense =)

Of course, without this you have no way to export...and it may well say in the license you are forbidden to write your own plugins (especially as they don't provide a SDK as far as I know, so you would have to reverse-engineer...which would violate the DMCA and no doubt their license and EUL agreements.
But I'd thoroughly read the license if I were you, if someone could find a way to export without using the Tempest plugins, then it would be *technically* legal.

Technically, that's not 100% accurate. There is no such stipulation in the gMax license. The non-commercial use is only for the tempest export plugin.Of course, without this you have no way to export...and it may well say in the license you are forbidden to write your own plugins (especially as they don't provide a SDK as far as I know, so you would have to reverse-engineer...which would violate the DMCA and no doubt their license and EUL agreements.

unfortunately theres one key problem with doing this, wherease the gmax licesne doesnt prohibit this, the license for the (dont remember the name of it) thing that lets you convert gmax to md3 prohibits such use.
