Patchy appearance of large DTS structure

Hi,
I have a strange problem: I design a large structure and cover it with materials defined in the materials.cs.
For simplicity, I just use a base texture. It is simply a uni-colored image file (just one light grey color). Checking it in the ShowTool Pro, everything is fine. Loading it in TGEA, it appears patchy with dark spots - just looks like a cow ;-)
How can that be? Is there any parameter which adds randomized spots to the surface or something?
The basic mission file is from the AtlasDemo - does it contain any special ligtht effects or something?
Please see details in this thread: http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/82392
