Fails to start

by James Bond · in Torque Game Engine · 01/11/2009 (3:28 pm) · 15 replies

Hello,

I have been playing for a few weeks with torque products (TGEA, TGE 1.5 and Constructor) However for some un known reason they ALL fail to start.
I double click the icon and then nothing. I go to task manager and the application is running but it dosnt render a screen or anything. This has happened a few times (I thought it was my OS, so I have formatted etc and then they work for a while, before this problem starts again :() Alas I am lost for ideas?

Have you checked to make sure your drivers are all up to date, especially if you formatted recently? Definitely make sure you have updated video and audio drivers. You might also want to make sure you have DirectX and SDK installed.

Hey James, I know your a smart guy so I won't ask you any dumb questions. :D

First, why type of video card do you have?
Second, have you tried setting the pref.cs to use Direct3D?
Last, what has changed on your system since we worked together? Everything seemed to be fine then, and if you have upgraded, some new hardware might be causing the issue.

Also might be a good idea to post your console.log so we can go through it.

Hi James, Maybe you could post your console.log here so we'll know where the errors are.

I would, but it dosn't get that far. It dosnt even open a window. I double click the icon of either (TGE, TGEA or Construtor) the hour glas shows for a second, then nothing. No console.log, no window.... nothing apart from the process in Task Manager.

Hmm, think the easiest thing would be to do a build from source and run it in the IDE. Though chances are it won't hang when running in that config, if it does, you could hit "Pause" and see where it blocks and if it gets to executing any Torque code at all or rather just hangs in the runtime init (the low process size points more in that direction).
