Textures I've been working on (image heavy)

If any of you look through the blogs, you will see 2 by me containing video's of some of the textures I've been working on. The quality of the vid's are very poor imo, so I wanted to post afew of the textures in this last pack I'm trying to finish up to see what people thought.

Looking pretty good. My only suggestion is to plan ahead and make sure you have specular and normal maps to accompany the diffuse textures.

Are you thinking about producing a content pack, or are you ramping up to show off a project? Either way, I look forward to seeing these textures applied to shapes. Take advantage of the .plan section =)

@Michael,

I am in the process of putting a few packs together and will be submitting them to GG. And yes, every texture of every pack will have normals, specular and come in png and jpg formats. I'm considering dds as well for other reasons but we will see.

I have a generic, dirty metal (the above one's came from it), and a doors/windows packs in the works so far. When they are closer to being complete, I will take some pics of them applied for people to see.

to bad non have any use for me.

i think they look good i just cant use them not for my project.

i having a hard time putting texture on my character though as the UV is all messy. i have not made normal for it ether having a hard time finding out how to make one. i don't have photoshop but i have photoshop elements which has allot of the stuff photoshop has i just cant find a way to take the texture and make it into normal i think i can get a bumpmap though but even those ways are not perfect bumpmaps.

i am using xsi and they have a way to take a high poly character and and low poly one and make a automatic normal map for it but i cant seen to get it it just makes a all purple normal map.

do you use something to make these normals/bump maps and what is it that you use if you don't mind telling. i should just work on getting the texture to fit on character be for going into normals and bump map. i trying to get it all to work on the high poly though as when i decrease the poly count it think xsi auto re make the textures even if not they should say where they fit i think. that could be why the low and high poly to make a normal map is not working as the high poly don't have a texture will see.

well, the textures above are diffuse and have no normals attached to them at this time. But, I'd be glad to point you to a cheap program that does a great deal for so little.

ShaderMap Pro

I don't always use this, but it might be worth you checking it out. If not, maybe I can make some normals for you.

Hi again,

I have been making progress and I would like to say the Dirty Metal texture pack is now complete. This pack will contain the following:

1) 68 unique diffuse textures, and for each texture:
a) normal map
b) Ambient Occlusion map
c) Displacement map
d) Specular map

* The specular maps can be found in two ways. There will be a separate Specular map, as well as one already in the superpng format.

2) Along with these things, the 68 diffuse textures will come in the following formats:
a) .png (no alpha)
b) .jpg
c) .superpng (with alpha spec)
d) .dds (dxt-5 format)

* - in total, approx. 544 files

3) Also to be included will be of course a materials file for ease of use.


My doors and windows pack is approx. 90% done and when complete, will contain the same things as listed above. When both are complete, I will be contacting GG, as well as placing a blog with pics and further info.
