right now im modeling a futuristic marine model based on the "armortype" of the marines in starship troopers roughnecks (the series).
sofar i only modeled the legs wit the boots but im strugling to get the upper body right and deleted that part like a zillion times. after 2 days of wasted hours of modeling i still have only 2 pairs of legs so id like to ask you guys for some good reference pages or some good tutorials for modeling a LOW POLY character. (so dont give me the joane d'arc tut for example, i have it in my favourites already.)
another question about the modeling part. does the model have to be "closed" when it comes to polys? i heard that you cant import a model with "holes" in it in halflife but is this the same with torque (or other engines)?
hope for some good replies,

For refererance material, I can recommend www.fineart.sk That's probably the best online ref' site you'll get. Certainly the best I've found in all my searching. Your best bet would be to get a scanner, a pencil, a piece of paper, and some life drawing classes :)
Contrary to what a lot of people say, having a more traditional artistic background can really help you when you're modelling. You can do without it, no doubt, but with it, there'll be a noticable change in the speed and often quality of your work.
