Need a Book Recommendation

I made a few incomplete games before (no title screen, or missing some gameplay elements). I'm tackling a large-scale project, and need to refine my Game Architecture Design abilities. Need a good book that describes the flow of games (would be very nice if it compared and contrasted game architecture by genre). I would also like the book to be readable. I hate technical books that are difficult to read. (Still haven't gotten through 3D Game Programming from Prima Tech's Game Development Series cuz I can't get past the first chapter). Need a book with good prose that fully details the topic. Any suggestions?

I ran across a book called Game Design: Secrets of the Sages 2nd Edition... Think I got it with a VC6 Intro Game Package (has not for resale on the back of it w\ the isbn: 1-57595-433-2).. Its a bit outdated now (published 1999) but it did have some interesting tips in it.. Be worth a read if ya find it somewhere...
